Time travel could be possible in months
This article was published on 8 February 2008 at vnunet.com.
I quote:
'Russian scientists have claimed that time travel could take place this year as an inadvertent by-product of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) run by Cern.
Mathematicians Irina Aref'eva and Igor Volovich said that when the LHC begins to smash atoms into each other the conditions will be perfect to open a wormhole into the distant future.'
And later:
'One model for the time machine is a traversable wormhole. We argue that the traversable wormhole production cross section at the LHC is of the same order as the cross section for black hole production.'

Turn back Time
This article was pubished at sawse.com on 19th February 2008.
I quote:
'The idea of time travel was introduced by Albert Einstein’s colleague Kurt Gödel. Gödel used Einstein’s theory of relativity to suggest that time travel may in fact be possible. Ever since the idea was unveiled back in 1949, it has faced countless attacks from prominent physicists due to its inherent violation of cause and effect. By undermining this concept, the notion of paradoxes is introduced. For instance, if one were to travel back in time and kill their own grandfather, they should technically never exist.'
And later:
'One intriguing prospect involves keeping the wormhole open for an extended period of time. The possible catalyst to this effort comes in the form of so-called dark energy. Dark energy is an anti-gravitational force that has permeated the entire universe since its creation. Its phantom energy may just be the key to keeping the wormhole open. If the mixture of colliding particles and phantom energy actually manages to open a wormhole in the LHC’s tunnel, then mankind will have achieved a feat of epic proportions. The observational evidence for phantom energy exists, but the Russian scientists’ belief in its ability to produce conditions necessary for time travel is simply speculative hope at this point.'

Time Machine at the LHC
On a research paper posted at arXiv.org, 2 russian scientists I.Ya. Aref'eva and I.V. Volovich say:
'Recently, black hole and brane production at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has been widely discussed. We suggest that there is a possibility to test causality at the LHC. We argue that if the scale of quantum gravity is of the order of few TeVs, proton-proton collisions at the LHC could lead to the formation of time machines (spacetime regions with closed timelike curves) which violate causality. One model for the time machine is a traversable wormhole. We argue that the traversable wormhole production cross section at the LHC is of the same order as the cross section for the black hole production. Traversable wormholes assume violation of the null energy condition (NEC) and an exotic matter similar to the dark energy is required. Decay of the wormholes/time machines and signatures of time machine events at the LHC are discussed'
