Thank you Free Press
This is a chronological list of recent articles we quoted at www.notepad.ch blogs.
We realize that the selection of posts is also based on our opinions and their content reflects partly the opinion of their authors.
Nonetheless these links confirm us that there is still some kind of Free Press, some journalists and authors that speak out when things happen that matter.

We would like to thank all sources of information (see link below each article title) for making sure that it is still possible to form a qualified opinion based on multiple viewpoints.
Thank you all.

Your first visit? Check the current LHC status and the Editorial section. Learn more about some of the risks, dangers , theories and secondary effects associated with the LHC. Learn about the LHC itself and its history and view LHC images. And finally, learn about LHC relevant legal actions, read quotes from many news articles and visit the Q&A section if you have any questions. And read quotes from Alan Gillis articles, Science of Conundrums.

These blogs are about the largest, most expensive machine humans have ever build, the LHC. The CERN built the LHC in Geneva, Switzerland. The CERN believes that the LHC is safe. A growing number of scienstists, journalists and many other individuals worldwide think this is not true.
98% of the notepad.ch site consists of quotes of articles, posts etc. The idea is to give a good overview over the concerns side and some background on the LHC. There are many sites - including the ones owned by CERN - that stress the positive, don't worry side of the LHC. Thus notepad is trying to give a media overview on the concerns about the LHC. As the nature of these quotes is, they are not made by notepad and thus do not necessarily reflect the view of notepad but should just indicate the full panel of concerns. notepad sees it's mission in giving the visitor enough information to be able to make his own mind up. We of course also encourage the visitor to visit LHC-pro sites in order to get a balanced view of this CERN project.

The Art Of Silence
This blog is about the CERN LHC.
We recommend that you visit the README section, if this is your first visit.
The source of most of the following information is the press. I try to find trustworthy information, but the authors of these articles may be badly informed, biased or just wrong. This has to be taken into account.
A few days ago I read that the LHC reaches operational temps, collisions start in 5 weeks.
5 weeks to go. Again.
On September 10 2008 the LHC had been officially started the previous time. Just 8 days later, September 19 2008 an accident crippled the LHC and the Hadron Collider was forced to halt and to be turned off for two months following damage.
End of September 2008 I was told that the LHC will be Offline Until Spring of 2009 and that the Doomsday lawsuit against Big Bang machine had been dismissed by a judge.
In October 2008 I have been informed that the LHC broke down because of bad soldering on a single connection. In February 2009, the Doomsday case is back in court.
October 12 2009 I learn that a Cern physicist is suspected of Al-Qaida links and has been charged and the next day I wonder: Did God stop CERN from discovering the God particle? and if the sought-after product of the collider is so destructive to nature that it travels backwards through time to stop the collider?
October 20 I read that collisions start in 5 weeks and November 1 that 'One year after £30m meltdown, God Machine is ready to run again'.
The same machine that made the media post articles like 'Is the world about to go out with a bang?' creates so little media interest today, less than 5 weeks before it will be launched - again.
Apparently for most of the worlds journalist the safety of the LHC has been indirectly proven because the Big Bang, the Black Hole, the bosenova, the wormhole, the time machine has not happened on September 10 2008. (Even if nobody ever told them that this might happen)
That is what I call serious investigative journalism.
I appreciate silence a lot in a church, on a mountain top, during night in bed.
But do I appreciate the global media silence about this huge machine that had a serious accident after just 8 days of operation? An accident that took over a year to fix?
No. I don't. And you?
Read about what happened since April 2007 on our notepad.
PS:
If God really stops CERN from discovering the God particle, that would be nice. But can we just assume that to be true? Humans are not allowed to make deadly mistakes because God is here to protect us? A nice idea but also a very comfortable one. Lets have some chips and a beer. Relax. Either God will make sure nothing horrible happens or the worlds best scientists.
Relax. Sleep. Dream. Be silent.

What consumes energy like 400000 households?
New to this site?

Source:
http://www.cyberspaceorbit.com/
Question: 'What consumes energy like 400000 households?'
Answer: 'The CERN LHC!'
Ok. Let’s make more fuel efficient cars. Lets enforce apparently radiating but energy efficient bulbs. Let’s talk daily about all this but something that consumes energy like 400000 households do - day after day when in normal operation - slips by. Very slippery.
Completely unperceived by strong, courageous people like Green Peace. Which - I thought - think of global warming an important issue!?
Is there any imminent power solution emerging from this thing thats going live? Is there a secret extremely powerful energy source they are looking for apart from this phenomenal GOD particle?
As if GOD is just a particle. This is atheist by excellence.
Or are they trying to contain the GOD particle and produce energy with GOD as a provider? Joking, just joking ;.)
400000 is like more or less the city of Geneva. Or at least nearly. Wow!
Unperceived.
If things like this go completely unperceived as being of the slightest issue. If consuming like 400000 2 person households is like NOTHING - nearly as nothing as this particle GOD...
Then I finally understand why the security is not an issue, why claims from more than a couple of experienced scientists go completely unaccounted for and nearly unperceived and why this so horrible interdisciplinary conference about the LHC can just not happen.
Why?
Because absolutely nothing of any importance is happening at the LHC. This is just the world’s best scientists doing serious work and taking care of all and every eventuality - and best been left completely alone.
But, please, Dear Scientist of the LHC, next time you take the bicycle to work, think just how completely insane this feels to some of us who just by chance have not done studies in your field of expertise.
How can a machine that consumes energy like 400000 households not warrant a public discussion in mass media, an open conference of interdisciplinary scientists?
An open conference that deals with these issues like energy consumption, like what exactly happened at the accident, like how exactly are the valid objections dealt with and in general in much depth about security.
I can understand that you waited a long time. I can understand that you want to turn this machine on and find out how it could help the CERN's and your personal reputation.
I can understand that from a scientist’s viewpoint, this is a fantastic, beautiful experience. And I can even somewhat understand if you personally feel that it warrants the risk.
But, please, Dear scientists. Let’s discuss the LHC. Lets the public participate.
I tell you the truth. I'm not convinced at all that the public, the fully informed public, would say collectively NO to this experience.
In a way, we are all in a Star trek situation. It seems like if we went somewhat nowhere with all our technology. The LHC seems to be an interesting way out of this one way road.
But I believe that the public should be properly informed and that the scientists that voice concerns should be heard at a kind of interdisciplinary, independent conference and these concerned views should be fully evaluated and fully contradicted or the risk mitigated.
That is in my view the only proper way to proceed.
PS: Or maybe an alternative might be this: CERN LHC on Moon

Call for a Moratorium on CERN Large Hadron Collider Operations
Link: http://lhc-concern.info/?page_id=28
This is quote from LHC-CONCERN.INFO concerning 'Call for a Moratorium on CERN Large Hadron Collider Operations':
'CERN has launched this August 29, a hasty, just 2-sided and provisional “study” in which two authors refer to a recent and highly disturbing study of a scientist, Dr Rainer Plaga, whose work basically follows the same “semi-classical” approach, as CERN-safety reports do. CERN is reacting to Dr Plaga’s calculations (for the assumption of only one extra dimension), which predicts an explosion of the LHC, that would also directly threaten the city of Geneva. This production of an extremely radiating object, a so-called “semi-stable black hole” would be indestructible and unremoveable, with even short-term catastrophic and irreversible global consequences.'
notepad publishing, the owner of www.notepad.ch www.stopcern.ch and www.stopcern.com fully supports this call for a moratorium.
